The Liberal Party is Dying
by Instant Noodle
When did the Liberal Party die?
Despite there still being a liberal-led government until 1922 under Lloyd George, the Liberal Party’s death knell probably rang in 1916, when the Conservatives switched their support to Lloyd George. At this point, there were Liberals on both sides of the dispatch box, with Asquith’s anti-coalition liberals in opposition.
The Liberals never really recovered from this. They will never again hold a majority government.
